Tottenham Hotspur will not be best pleased with the latest developments at Boreham Wood after they agreed to send one of their young prospects on loan.
While there has been a lot of attention on the incomings and outgoings in Tottenham’s senior side, there have also been massive changes made in the youth set-up.
In the final weeks of the transfer window, many of the club’s talented teenagers were loaned out, most of them to EFL clubs.
A total of 17 players have been loaned out by Tottenham this summer, including highly-rated young talents such as Mikey Moore, Mason Melia and Jamie Donley.
Tottenham may regret sending Luca Gunter to Boreham Wood
Tottenham sent their young goalkeeper Luca Gunter to non-league side Boreham Wood earlier this summer so that he can get some game time under his belt.
However, the non-league club have now disrupted Spurs’ plans by announcing that they have re-signed Chelsea goalkeeper Ted Curd on loan.
Spurs insider John Wenham believes that Curd’s arrival at Boreham Wood is a disaster for Gunter’s chances of getting regular game time.
Wenham wrote on X: “Disaster for Luca Gunter’s loan at Boreham Wood. Luca has started every game so far this season for Boreham Wood.”
Could Spurs recall Luca Gunter?
There is no clarity on whether Tottenham’s loan agreement with Boreham Wood for Gunter has a break clause.
One would think that even if such a clause exists, it can only be activated in the January transfer window and not before it.
That means that the 21-year-old Spurs academy graduate faces the prospect of warming the bench and getting very little football for the next four months.
