Tottenham captain Cristian Romero has his sights firmly set on achieving something historic at the World Cup, but one current Tottenham teammate and another former one stand in his way.
Spurs fans will have a lot of interest in the final few matches of the World Cup, with no shortage of Tottenham players in the semi-finals of the tournament.
While Romero and new signing Marcos Senesi are looking to retain the trophy with Argentina, the two Spurs full-backs, Pedro Porro and Djed Spence, are also looking to win it for Spain and England respectively.
In fact, if Spain overcome France in the semi-finals, a Tottenham player is guaranteed to be a World champion.

Tottenham star Cristian Romero shoots major warning to England
Argentina won the World Cup for the first time in 38 years in Qatar four years ago, and they are now one step away from making another World Cup final.
Romero has now shot a warning to the Three Lions, insisting that he and his teammates will leave everything on the pitch in the semi-final in Atalanta on Wednesday.
The Tottenham captain said (via Fabrizio Romano): “We will give our souls against England. We will leave our lives on the pitch to reach the final again.”
Romero has been a key part of the reawakening of Argentine football at the biggest stage, with the nation having won two Copa Americas and a World Cup in the last five years after going a long time without a major title.
When asked about reaching the semi-finals again in North America, the Spurs star said (via Football.London): “It’s incredible. That’s just how we are; in Argentina, they say that if you don’t suffer, it’s not worth it. We truly don’t fully grasp everything we’ve been doing over the last 10 years.
“I hope Argentinians can relate to us, because we truly give our all for the shirt. It was evident again today (against Switzerland), we kept running, kept fighting, until the very last minute. Sometimes you play well, sometimes badly, but the important thing is always to get back up and keep going.”
Romero points out Argentina have already shown their powers of recovery
The defending champions have certainly made hard work of reaching the final four, having come from behind against Cape Verde and Egypt, and needing extra time to overcome Switzerland in the quarterfinal.
Romero admitted that he and his teammates take a lot of confidence and belief, particularly from the way they turned things around against Egypt in the round of 16.
The 28-year-old added: “In the previous match, down 2-0, we showed that we always try and push forward. I don’t know how many teams have that. I’m proud of this team. Leo, Ota, Fide who’s no longer with us… They showed that they have a DNA where they always get back up, and we have to do the same.”
