The future of Djed Spence remains the subject of much speculation at Tottenham, as the full-back continues to silence his critics with his performances for England at the World Cup.
Thomas Tuchel’s decision to include Djed Spence in the World Cup squad was heavily criticised, and the Spurs defender was targeted by parts of the media for his performance against Congo in the round of 32 stage.
However, he has delivered the perfect response, producing two excellent performances off the bench to help the Three Lions overcome Mexico and Norway, and book their place in the semi-final of the World Cup.
Amid his heroics in North America, there continues to be plenty of speculation over the 25-year-old’s club future, with a Premier League club eyeing a move for the player.

Tottenham currently have no plans to sell Djed Spence
According to reports, Everton are considering a move for Spence, having identified the Spurs man as the player to solve their issues at right-back.
The Toffees are allegedly willing to pay £25m for the Tottenham defender, but journalist Pete O’Rourke has now revealed that the Lilywhites are under no pressure to sell the full-back, who will be keen to fight for his place in De Zerbi’s starting eleven.
When asked about the chances of Spence exiting Spurs this summer, O’Rourke told Football Insider: “Nothing is imminent for his future as he’s currently away at the World Cup with England. He’s done okay for England, filling in when needed.
“His immediate thought will be to try and come back and impress at Spurs, and he did play most of the games under De Zerbi when he took over at the back end of the season as well. Obviously he is under contract until 2029, with the option of a further year, so Spurs are under no immediate pressure to sell him.”
Why Spurs may still be tempted to accept a big offer for Spence
What we have seen from Spence at the World Cup serves as confirmation of what many Tottenham fans feel about the defender: that he is better at left-back than right-back.
With Spurs adding Andy Robertson to their squad to challenge Destiny Udogie for the left-back role, one would not be surprised if the Lilywhites are tempted to sell Spence at a time when his value is high, and replace him with a right-back who is more suited to De Zerbi’s system.
However, it is certainly going to need a big offer to prise the former Middlesbrough man away from N17, with his stock having gone up significantly in light of his performances at the World Cup.
