Ange Postecoglou’s job as Tottenham Hotspur manager has remained secure up until now, but that could change if his side suffer defeat in the FA Cup against Aston Villa today.

Tottenham could soon be left with little to play for
Every manager who arrives at Tottenham usually has two main objectives. One is to finish in the top four, while the other is to win a trophy.
Mauricio Pochettino helped Spurs end the season in the Champions League spots four times during his tenure, while Antonio Conte managed one top-four finish in the Premier League. However, neither were able to lift silverware.
Realistically, Tottenham are not going to finish as high as fourth in the Premier League table this time around. Therefore, winning a cup competition is arguably more important than it has ever been.
However, Spurs wasted a first-leg advantage against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final, losing 4-0 at Anfield in the return fixture.
Tottenham’s next match is an FA Cup fourth-round clash against Aston Villa. If they are knocked out of a second tournament in the space of three days, the only real chance Spurs will have to qualify for Europe next season is through the Europa League and that might be too late for Ange Postecoglou.

Ange Postecoglou could face Tottenham sack with FA Cup exit
According to GiveMeSport, Postecoglou’s position will be considered if his side are defeated by Aston Villa. The manner in which Spurs lost to Liverpool has reportedly placed uncertainty on the 59-year-old’s future.
However, influential figures at the club still support Postecoglou. Tottenham’s late business in the transfer window, involving the signings of Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso, is said to have highlighted that Daniel Levy still wants to keep Postecoglou in his current role.
If Spurs suffer another convincing defeat on Sunday, it is said that Postecoglou’s position will be under threat and there is a chance he will be sacked before the conclusion of his second season in charge.

Is it too late for Tottenham to make a Premier League comeback?
Tottenham still have the opportunity to pick up 42 points in the Premier League, with 14 matches left to play. Their current record of five more defeats than victories, however, leaves little to be optimistic about.
Spurs also have some tough fixtures remaining. Away trips to Chelsea and Liverpool still await Postecoglou’s men, while they must play a number of other teams to have already beaten them this season.
Ultimately, Tottenham need to display the capability required to win a trophy and Sunday’s clash with Aston Villa could be Postecoglou’s final chance to show this.
