Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano provides update on Spurs interest in Marcel Sabitzer

Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur are one of several clubs who are interested in Marcel Sabitzer ahead of the January transfer window.

Tottenham were first linked with the versatile winger after he put them to the sword in the Champions League last season as Jose Mourinho’s side were knocked out by RB Leipzig in the round of sixteen stage.

Reports once again resurfaced linking Spurs with the former Rapid Wien player during the previous transfer window but nothing came off it, with the 26-year-old staying put in the Red Bull Arena.

SportBILD (as relayed by Sport Witness) reignited the rumours last week as they claimed that Sabitzer’s time at Leipzig was running out as he is unlikely to pen a new contract, with Tottenham holding a keen interest in bringing him to England.

While some Spurs fans were really excited by the idea of signing the Austrian international in January, Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealed in his YouTube channel that Tottenham had not made contact with the winger’s representatives for a while.

However, Romano has now once again given Tottenham fans hope by admitting on social media that the club holds an interest in the Leipzig star, although he added that other clubs were also circling.
