One injured Tottenham star returned to the pitch on Saturday, while another took a big step towards his comeback.
Spurs have veered from one injury crisis to another over the last two years, and they almost ended up paying the ultimate price, eventually managing to avoid relegation in the final game of the season.
According to reports, Tottenham are set to make changes to the medical department and the way they manage injured players in order to ensure they are not stuck with a bloated injury list again next campaign.
Two of the Spurs’ senior players, who had to watch on from the sidelines as the Lilywhites battled for their place in the Premier League in the final weeks of the season, are now on the mend.

Tottenham captain Cristian Romero returns to the pitch
Cristian Romero did not play any part in Tottenham’s final six league games of the season after coming off injured in the club’s 1-0 loss at Sunderland on April 12, which was De Zerbi’s first game in charge of the club.
The Spurs captain has now returned to action just ahead of Argentina’s World Cup defence, coming on as a substitute in his nation’s win over Honduras on Saturday.
Romero came on as a 62nd-minute substitute for Lionel Scaloni’s side and helped his side keep a clean sheet as they emerged 2-0 winners.
The Albiceleste have one more friendly against Iceland before they begin their World Cup campaign with a clash against Algeria on June 16, which the Tottenham man looks on course to be ready for.
However, reports continue to suggest that Romero could have already played his final game for Spurs, who are ready to cash in on the 28-year-old this summer.
Ben Davies nearing a return from injury
Ben Davies missed the majority of the 2025-26 season due to injuries, but the defender is not a long way off returning to the pitch.
The Tottenham man made the matchday squad for Wales but was an unused substitute as the Dragons were beaten 2-1 by Romania on Saturday.
Craig Bellamy’s side have not qualified for the World Cup, which means that the Spurs left-back will have an extended break ahead of next season.
Over recent days, some sources have suggested that Tottenham are ready to hand Davies a new contract after the 33-year-old’s deal ran out.
