Unai Emery has made a confident prediction about where Tottenham will finish this Premier League season following their poor start.

The expectation of the Spurs fan base was very high coming into the campaign after a summer of major investment into the squad.

However, the Lilywhites have received a major reality check about the brutality of the Premier League in the first month of the campaign.

They are still searching for their first win and first goal of the campaign after six hours of league football, and they will desperately be hoping it comes against Aston Villa tomorrow.

Unai Emery expects Tottenham to finish in the top four

In a week when De Zerbi’s credentials to coach a top team have been questioned, and his tactics have been called outdated, Unai Emery has come to the defence of his opposite number.

He insisted that the Italian needs more time to work with the squad of players he assembled and said that he expects Spurs to qualify for the Champions League.

Emery said (via Fabrizio Romano): “I expect Tottenham to be in the top four at the end of the season. De Zerbi is a fantastic manager. He needs time. The players are fantastic as well.”

Aston Villa finished in the top four after a similar start last season

Tottenham and Coventry City are far from the only clubs in Premier League history to go without a goal in their first four games.

It was reported by The Guardian earlier in the week that five other clubs have gone without a goal in their first four league games, and the lowest any of them finished is 13th.

That includes Villa last season, who failed to win any of their first five league games and ended up finishing fourth and winning the Europa League.
