Video: Wenger claims Mourinho should warn Spurs midfielder over behaviour

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has explained what Jose Mourinho is likely to have said to Dele Alli following the midfielder’s angry reaction to being substituted against RB Leipzig on Wednesday.

After being largely ineffective in the game, Alli was replaced by Erik Lamela in the 64th minute as the home side went chasing an equaliser.

The 23-year-old couldn’t hide his frustration at being withdrawn and was seen throwing his water bottle and boots to the floor in anger just before taking his seat on the bench.

Alli subsequently started on the bench in the 2-1 defeat against Chelsea on Saturday before coming on in the final stages of the game.

Wenger insists Mourinho should make it clear to the midfielder that such behaviour cannot be tolerated even if he is unhappy with the manager’s decision:

Here’s what the former Arsenal man told beIN SPORTS about the incident:

In fairness, it is difficult to say whether Dele was frustrated at his performance or the manager’s call to take him off. Regardless, he should control himself better when he knows the cameras are on him as it creates needless negativity and bad press. I am sure Jose would have made that clear to him.
