Watch Tottenham’s Luca Williams-Barnett score a stunning goal for England U17

Tottenham youngster Luca Williams-Barnett has made his mark in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Qatar.

The 17-year-old Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate has had an unbelievable few months, putting his name in the limelight.

Williams-Barnett became the youngest ever player to represent Spurs in the League Cup when he came on for his debut in Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Doncaster Rovers back in September.

Being handed his debut was just reward for the teenager’s impressive showing for Spurs’ U21s, with the attacking midfielder having managed six goals and four assists in 10 matches in Premier League Two this season.

Williams-Barnett scores a brace in the U17 World Cup

The Tottenham youngster is showcasing his class on the international stage, putting his stamp on the FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar.

After coming on as a second-half substitute against Venezuela on Tuesday when England suffered a shock 3-0 defeat, the Tottenham man was handed the nod to start against Haiti this evening.

Williams-Barnett played 79 minutes before being replaced by Aston Villa youngster Igor Tyjon, and he scored twice as England ran out 8-1 winners.

His first goal came via a cross from the left wing, which the Spurs youngster tapped home. For his second, he received the ball in a very crowded box and managed to jink past two defenders with some very clever footwork before rolling the ball into the net.

Spurs handed Williams-Barnett his first professional contract last month, and big things are expected from the teenager in Hotspur Way.

In fact, following his debut for Tottenham against Doncaster, Thomas Frank challenged Williams-Barnett to establish himself as a first-team regular over the coming years.

The attacking midfielder can take inspiration from what Mikey Moore has achieved over the last 18 months and look to follow in his footsteps.
