New Tottenham Hotspur signing Omar Marmoush is not worried about the team’s lack of goals so far this season.
Given the reputation Roberto De Zerbi’s sides have of playing free-flowing football and creating a lot of chances, hardly anyone would have imagined that Spurs would go six hours of Premier League football at the start of the season without scoring a goal.
Tottenham fans are desperate to see their side find the back of the net and pick up their first league win of the season against Aston Villa in what is their final game ahead of the international break.
Spurs created plenty of great chances at Liverpool in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, but their finishing let them down. One Spurs forward is confident that trend will soon change.
Omar Marmoush is sure that goals are coming for Tottenham
Marmoush is still waiting for his first Tottenham goal, but the Egyptian is not too worried about the side not scoring in their first four league matches.
He insists that Spurs are getting better as an attacking force with each game, and suggested that his tough period is helping build a strong mentality and togetherness among the new group.
The forward told Tottenham’s official website: “Every game we create more, more and more and more chances – I’m sure we are very close. If we keep trying… as everyone can see, we reach the goal so many times. We have so much quality on the pitch and from the people that come off the bench to give us this last push.
“When these small details click, it will be very, very good. These moments build the mentality and join the team together. We’re all one big family, and we push all together. These small glimpses of success give us another push and we have to build this confidence within us.”
Marmoush signs praise of ‘unbelievable’ Spurs fans
While Tottenham may have failed to get a positive result at Anfield, the more than 6000 travelling fans certainly gave the team plenty of encouragement, making it sound like a home match at times.
James Maddison admitted Spurs’ brilliant away support does not go unnoticed by the players, and Marmoush has now joined the attacking midfielder in recognising the fans’ efforts on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old added: “I have to say our fans were unbelievable (at Anfield). We’ve had their support since the very beginning, and that’s important. All of us in the Club, the staff, the fans, the coaching staff, everyone around us, we have to support each other in order to reach our goal because that’s the only way you can reach it.”
