What Lucas Bergvall is thinking after Tottenham inform him he will not be sold

Lucas Bergvall’s future at Tottenham has been the subject of much speculation over the last few weeks as the midfielder prioritises game time next season.

The Swede started just one of Spurs’ final seven league matches last season after the arrival of Roberto De Zerbi, and Tottenham’s big-money deals for Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes could push him further down the Italian’s pecking order.

As a result, Bergvall has informed Tottenham that he wants to leave the club this summer in search of a new challenge, but Spurs have other plans.

Over the past couple of days, some outlets have claimed that the Lilywhites have made it clear to Bergvall that he is not for sale and have assured the 20-year-old he is part of the club’s long-term plans.

Lucas Bergvall is still pushing for an exit despite Tottenham’s stance

Sky Sports have now revealed on their live transfer blog that despite Tottenham telling the midfielder that he will not be leaving, the player is still keen on a new challenge.

The report says that Bergvall’s priority is to play regularly in the number eight role next season, which he feels he has a better chance of doing if he secures a move away from North London.

The update says that Nottingham Forest remain ‘very interested’ in a potential deal for the former Djugardens man, whose future is now up in the air.

How much is Bergvall likely to cost if he leaves Spurs?

Sky Sports say that Forest expect the fee for Bergvall to be in line with the price of Luka Vuskovic, for whom Brighton have agreed to pay £45m and hand the Lilywhites a 20 per cent sell-on clause.

However, the outlet makes it clear that Forest are not the only ones eyeing a move for the Tottenham starlet.

Other Premier League clubs are also eyeing Bergvall, while Serie A, La Liga and German clubs are also monitoring his situation closely.
