Tottenham Hotspur have to see off competition from three Premier League rivals to land James Trafford from Manchester City.
Guglielmo Vicario is expected to depart Spurs following three years at the North London club, and the Lilywhites have seemingly begun their search for a replacement.
It has been widely reported over the last few months that Tottenham are eying a move for Trafford, who had to play second fiddle to Gianluigi Donnarumma last season following his return to the Etihad 12 months ago.
Some outlets have suggested over recent weeks that Spurs are not the favourites to land the Man City goalkeeper, who is not short of admirers across the Premier League.

Tottenham battling three Premier League clubs for James Trafford
TEAMtalk have now revealed that Spurs are ‘primed’ to make a move for the 23-year-old goalkeeper ahead of their first full season under De Zerbi.
The report claims that Trafford is rated very highly by the North London club, who view him as a reliable long-term option between the posts.
De Zerbi believes that the England international is ‘an ideal fit’ for his possession-based style of play and is keen to add the youngster to his squad.
However, Tottenham will face a lot of competition for Trafford, with Aston Villa ready to make a move for him if they lose Emiliano Martinez, while Newcastle also hold long-term interest in the goalkeeper.
The former Burnley man is also admired by Leeds United, but so far, Daniel Farke’s side have not made any serious efforts to prise him away.
How much is Trafford likely to cost this summer?
TEAMtalk say that the goalkeeper has already been told by Man City that he can leave and that they would consider offers this summer.
With Trafford’s current deal running until 2029, the Etihad hierarchy are looking to raise in excess of £40m for the English shot-stopper, who they paid £30m to re-sign from Burnley last summer.
While it remains to be seen where the Man City man ends up, the report concludes that he is expected to overtake Antonín Kinsky as Spurs’ number one if the Lilywhites clinch the deal.
