Tottenham Hotspur star Xavi Simons has shared an update on social media as he begins his long road to recovery following an ACL injury.

The attacking midfielder looked set to have a huge part to play in Tottenham’s fight for survival after seemingly turning a corner after the arrival of Roberto De Zerbi.

However, Xavi suffered a devastating injury blow during Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Wolves, picking up an ACL injury that has ruled him out for the rest of the calender year.

Some feel that the 22-year-old’s injury could prove decisive in Spurs’ attempt to avoid relegation, with the Lilywhites continuing to reel with one big injury after another.

The injury means that Xavi will now have to wait four more years to get a taste of the World Cup, and that he will miss a significant part of next season, no matter what division Spurs are in.

On Monday, the Tottenham star admitted that he was heartbroken that his season ended this way and that he can no longer help his teammates in the relegation battle.

Now, just days later, Xavi seems to be in a much better mood. As per Football.London, the Dutchman has shared pictures of himself working out at the gym on Snapchat, along with the caption: “No matter what?”.

Xavi’s injury could have a big impact on Spurs’ summer plans

A couple of days ago, TEAMtalk revealed that Xavi’s injury may force Spurs to change their plans for the summer window.

The outlet suggested that Tottenham were considering cashing in on the 22-year-old in order to fund their rebuild, but the injury may have ended the former Leipzig man’s chances of a summer move.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph have said that there is no relegation wage reduction clause in Xavi’s contract with Spurs. That means that the club would have to continue paying his £195,000 per week salary next season even if they find themselves in the Championship.
