Michael Dawson
The third and final defender on my list (and I anticipate some disagreement here) is Michael Dawson. Over the years, I have considered him unfortunate to miss out on England selection but recently, particularly this most recent season, my thoughts on him have changed and I have concurred with Andre Villas-Boas’ attempt to sell him to QPR.
He has been greatly exposed for pace, especially against the top four sides with whom we are trying to close the gap, and overall just seems to be a liability. Although Cardiff conceded plenty of goals this season, I still believe keeping Caulker (and buying him back) would be a better idea than keeping Dawson. He’s been terrific all season, but I just think our ambitions may be a step too far for him this time around.
