Etienne Capoue
Moving into midfield, and although I believe in giving players time to adjust to new clubs and divisions, particularly in foreign shores, I think Etienne Capoue is a player that we didn’t need to start with. Unlucky to get injured in his third game for us, he has offered little when in the team and, for me, is not that much better than Sandro.
With Livermore and Carroll returning, plus the abundance of midfielders we already have, Capoue would allow us to recoup most of the £9million we paid for him and would attract interest abroad. Similar to Chelsea and Manchester City signing the likes of Wright-Phillips and Sinclair respectively, did we only sign him to stop others having him? Possibly. I will stand corrected if he stays and has a stormer next season though.
