Gallery: Five players that could replace Kieran Trippier at Tottenham this summer

It is no secret that the future of Kieran Trippier at Tottenham is plagued with uncertainty and debate.

The 28-year-old England international was heavily criticised throughout the 2018/19 season following a number of poor performances and mistakes.

Trippier alongside many of his Spurs teammates participated in the 2018 FIFA World Cup that took place prior to the 2018/19 season.

He had a successful campaign on a personal level. He scored a magnificent free kick during England’s semi-final defeat against Croatia. Whilst this was his only goal, his performance overall was enough to satisfy most Tottenham fans heading into the upcoming Premier League season.

It wasn’t to be, however. Plenty of mistakes matched with average performances have potentially cost him his place in North London.

With clubs such as Juventus and Napoli swirling for his signature (talkSPORT), we list the top five players that could replace Kieran Trippier should he leave the club this summer

1. Max Aarons

Max Aarons ticks all the boxes for a Tottenham transfer.

A versatile right back, Aarons would provide Spurs pacey prowess along the flanks.

Aarons can be attributed with a strong attacking mindset, whilst also being able to cover defensive duties. He is a strong dribbler of the ball who often players short and sharp passes.

Aarons appeared 43 times across the 2018/19 season, taking part in Norwich’s Championship title-winning season.

At just 19 years of age with over 3,800 minutes for the season under his belt, it’s easy to see why this boy has large potential.

Aarons’ age certainly fits into Pochettino’s managerial style. Not only this, but the fact that he is English is another positive.

Pochettino has a history of transforming young English players into wonderful homegrown talents. Spurs should treat Aarons in the same manner.

It isn’t all plain sailing for Spurs, however. With Norwich securing promotion, it may seem unlikely that he will seek a move this season.
