Report: Spurs player wants exit; feels Postecoglou ‘does not trust him’

Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil has set his heart on a permanent transfer away from North London this summer and wants a move abroad, according to Spanish news outlet Estadio Deportivo.

The report claims that the player believes that Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou ‘does not trust him’ and now wants to seal a return to La Liga.

Gil remained at Tottenham in the January transfer window despite his lack of game time and a report from the same publication earlier this month claimed the Spanish international decided he did not want another winter loan move and instead was seeing a permanent exit which failed to materialise.

The midfielder was said to have ‘already gotten tired of moving from team to team’ having found himself considerably down in the pecking order of the Tottenham first team squad.

Gil was once again an unused substitute at the weekend for Tottenham’s 4-0 win at Aston Villa and has started just two Premier League games this season, with a further eight coming from the bench (transfermarkt).

The 23-year-old has previously had loan stints away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at former club Valencia and Sevilla.

The player is reported to be prepared to ‘give priority’ to Sevilla despite their lack of European football but will have to thrash out a deal with Tottenham.

There is also interest in his services from Mallorca and Real Sociedad.

Gil is a talented player but has not been able to handle the physical demands of the Premier League, it is slightly surprising the club never looked to loan him to a club near the bottom of the table to get him regular game time in England.

He has done well on both loan spells at Valencia and Sevilla and there is no doubt his game is much more suited to La Liga, it is a shame that he has not put himself in the shop window on another loan to allow Spurs to command a decent transfer fee.
