Tottenham defender Souza has been linked with a move to a Europa League club, just six months on from arriving in North London.
Several senior players are expected to leave Tottenham before the window slams shut, and a couple of young starlets could also follow them out the door.
It was reported by Diario do Peixe a couple of days ago that Spurs left-back Souza has emerged as a target for Benfica.
The Brazilian has made just four senior appearances for the Lilywhites since his move from Santos in January, but it was suggested that the North London club could make a quick profit on him as the Portuguese club are planning an offer.

Benfica will not pursue Tottenham’s Souza
However, a new report in Record (as relayed by Sport Witness) has now poured cold water on the claims linking the 20-year-old with a move to Lisbon.
The report says that contrary to speculation over recent days, neither Souza nor Feyenoord winger Leo Sauer are targets for Benfica.
The publication says that reports suggesting the Eagles are set to make a €20m (£17.4m) bid for the Tottenham man are wide of the mark, insisting that the 20-year-old is not part of Marco Silva’s summer wishlist.
The former Santos man has not travelled with the Spurs squad on their pre-season tour to New Zealand and Australia.
Spurs are looking to loan out Souza
The 20-year-old is highly-rated back in his home country, with reports claiming that Souza has been earmarked by Brazil as an option for the 2030 World Cup squad.
Even though the youngster did not feature under Roberto De Zerbi last season, some sources have claimed that the Tottenham boss is a ‘huge fan’ of the left-back.
It was reported by Football.London’s Alasdair Gold earlier this month that Spurs have decided to loan out Souza for the upcoming season so that he can get regular game time.
