A Tottenham youngster, who made four appearances for the club since arriving in January, is not expected to be part of Roberto De Zerbi’s squad for the upcoming season.

23 Tottenham players were part of the first group to return from their summer break, having been pictured at Hotspur Way in the first few days of pre-season.

Additionally, new signing Sandro Tonali reported for training for the first time on Tuesday after his work permit was confirmed, much to the delight of Spurs fans on social media.

However, a 20-year-old, who arrived at the club during the previous transfer window, is yet to begin pre-season training with his club teammates.

Tottenham starlet Souza is likely to be loaned out this summer

The player in question is left-back Souza, who, according to Football.London’s Alasdair Gold, has missed the first few days of pre-season due to illness.

The Brazilian arrived in a £13m move from Santos in January, made four appearances for Tottenham last season, and was even used as a right-winger by Igor Tudor.

Gold reveals that Souza is not expected to remain as part of De Zerbi’s Spurs squad next season, with the youngster expected to be loaned out.

With Andy Robertson arriving at Spurs to compete with Destiny Udogie for the left-back role, the Santos academy graduate is set to depart Hotspur Way temporarily in search of regular game time.

Roberto De Zerbi is a big fan of Souza

The left-back did not play a single minute for Tottenham after De Zerbi walked through the door last season.

However, it has been reported by The Athletic that despite not giving the youngster opportunities, the Spurs head coach is a ‘huge fan’ of Souza.

A loan move away from N17 may present the 20-year-old the perfect opportunity to play regularly and catch the eye of De Zerbi and the decision-makers at Tottenham.
