Absurd price could end Tottenham pursuit of Georges Mikautadze despite De Zerbi wish

Tottenham Hotspur will have to break the bank if they wish to complete a late move for Georges Mikautadze from Villarreal this summer.

It has been reported by several sources that Tottenham want to add a striker to their squad alongside Savinho and Cody Gakpo in the final two weeks of the transfer window.

The big question is which number nine the Lilywhites will prioritise. We have seen reports suggest that Spurs are holding talks with Monaco over a deal for Folarin Balogun.

Meanwhile, reports linking Victor Osimhen with a sensational move to Tottenham are refusing to go away, although his wage demands are expected to be a major stumbling block to any transfer.

Tottenham have to break the bank to land Georges Mikautadze

Earlier this month, Tottenham were also credited with an interest in Georges Mikautadze, who found the back of the net 16 times and provided six assists for Villarreal last season.

The links to the Georgia international were met with excitement from some Spurs fans, but Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe has now revealed that the Lilywhites would have to spend a huge sum to land the player.

O’Keefe revealed that Villarreal will demand over £80m for Mikautadze and that the North Londoners may struggle to get that deal done even if they move one of Richarlison or Dominic Solanke out of the door.

The Spurs insider wrote on X: “I spoke to a Villarreal contact. They will ask over 80m, so I don’t know if that progresses unless we move one out, and even then we might go elsewhere.”

Paul O’Keefe suggests Nicolas Jackson suits Roberto De Zerbi’s system

Earlier this month, The Sun revealed that the Lilywhites have expressed an interest in Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, who has struggled to make the expected impact at Stamford Bridge or on loan at Bayern Munich last season.

O’Keefe has now suggested that the Senegal international is seen as a good fit for De Zerbi’s system due to his ability to press, float and run in-behind.

In two separate posts, O’Keefe wrote about Jackson: It’s more about players that suit systems, and then they flourish. Delap no chance with the way Chelsea play. Jackson is every day a De Zerbi fit. Not claiming he’ll sign him, but horses for courses. Good presser, can float wide or central, in behind, pace, bit of arrogance too.”
