Barcelona make Luka Vuskovic request to Tottenham but asking price is too high

Barcelona have spoken to Luka Vuskovic’s agent about a move to Camp Nou after Brighton failed with a move for the Tottenham Hotspur defender.

Tottenham have turned down a £30m bid from Brighton for Vuskovic recently, with several sources reporting that the Seagulls’ offer fell well short of Spurs’ valuation of the defender.

Some outlets have said that Brighton could return with an improved offer for the Tottenham teenager, who is currently at the World Cup with Croatia.

Over the last month, Barcelona have also been credited with an interest in Vuskovic, but the Catalan giants have run into one major stumbling block.

Barcelona put off by Tottenham’s asking price for Luka Vuskovic

According to the print edition of Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness), Barcelona have continued to keep a close eye on the centre-back’s situation, having been impressed by his displays at Hamburg last season.

However, they are well aware that Tottenham will not sell Vuskovic cheaply. The Catalan club have a good relationship with the 19-year-old’s agent Pini Zahavi, who also represents their head coach Hansi Flick.

Barca have told the representative to keep them informed of the developments over the teenager’s future.

The La Liga club have discovered that the Lilywhites will not let Vuskovic go for less than €60m (£52m), with the price making the deal ‘prohibitive’ for Flick’s side.

Barca have not abandoned Vuskovic pursuit yet

Sport say that Barca’s sporting director Deco failed to make any progress in his attempted negotiations for Vuskovic, and has not discussed any offers with Spurs.

However, Deco has asked Zahavi to ‘keep an eye out’ to assess if there is a possibility of a price reduction from Spurs for his client.

The reigning Spanish champions are also alive to the possibility of landing Vuskovic as part of a potential ‘multi-player deal’ this summer.
