Tottenham Hotspur supporters remain divided over the prospect of Pape Matar Sarr leaving the club this summer, but some sections of the fanbase have now revealed the fee they would be willing to accept amid reported interest from Premier League side Brentford.

While the World Cup continues to dominate headlines, Tottenham Hotspur‘s rebuild continues as the club aims to get back to competing with some of the best sides in the Premier League.

Spurs managed a 17th-place finish for the second season running and, in a bid to avoid a repeat, work is being done to strengthen the current squad.

Two players have since joined in Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi, while Spurs continue to be linked with several other big names.

Tottenham fans react to Brentford’s interest in Pape Matar Sarr

Jan Paul van Hecke and Savinho have long been reported as two players Tottenham are looking to sign, while more recent reports have claimed that Sandro Tonali is now on that list as well.

Tottenham have joined Arsenal and Manchester City in pursuit of the Newcastle United midfielder.

However, while there is a need to strengthen the midfield, reports now claim that Pape Matar Sarr is attracting interest from Brentford, who are keen on signing the Senegal international this summer.

Spurs fans who have caught wind of the latest report have now shared their reaction, with opinions divided.

Reacting to the speculation, one fan said: “Sell sadly.” Another was more conflicted in his assessment, writing: “Sarr will be one of those players we sell & turns out becoming one of the best midfielders in the world 3-4 years down the line & get sold for double the money we sell for. The player I saw at the start of last season was incredible & with consistent playing time who knows.”

One more added: “£40m, cash in. Bring somebody better in.” A fourth supporter commented: “£40M please. I love him but he’s not improved since the first Ange year. Time to move him on unfortunately.”

More calls for him to be sold followed, with one fan saying: “Maybe time to cash in, include a buyback clause potentially.”

However, another supporter disagreed, adding: “Absolutely not! Can’t sell him to another EPL club. Because I fear he will become absolutely class once he leaves. I’d rather him go to another league.”

Spurs may need Pape Matar Sarr this season

Sarr joined Tottenham in 2021 and has yet to establish himself as a regular starter. Many fans will remember his contribution in the Europa League final, where he provided the assist for Brennan Johnson’s winning goal.

However, during the last campaign, he found game time difficult to come by, starting just 13 Premier League matches from his 26 appearances.

He had his fair share of injury issues; no doubt, the constant managerial changes have done little to aid his development.

Tottenham do not currently possess enormous depth in midfield and could risk leaving themselves short if Sarr is sold without another addition arriving. He is more than capable of serving as a useful squad player, given his versatility in midfield.
