Tottenham’s pursuit of Savinho may not get any easier over the coming days following the latest update from Fabrizio Romano about Chelsea’s transfer decision.
Tottenham continue to be locked in talks with Man City over a deal for Savinho, with a lot of Spurs fans becoming frustrated that the deal has still not been concluded.
Their frustrations are understandable, given that we are now just a little over a week away from the start of the new Premier League season.
The delay may not be an issue on Spurs’ end, with reports claiming that Man City want to sign a replacement first before greenlighting Savinho’s sale to the Lilywhites.
We have heard over the last week that Enzo Maresca’s men have identified Pedro Neto as a potential replacement for the Brazilian, but a deal for the Portuguese star is proving anything but straightforward for City.

Just a couple of days ago, Spurs Web relayed a report which suggested that Chelsea are looking for a fee of around £70m-£75m for Neto.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that there is a big gap between the Blues’ asking price for the former Wolves man and what City are willing to pay for the player.
The worry for the Lilywhites is that the Savinho deal could continue to be delayed if City cannot get their hands on the Chelsea man.
Romano wrote on X: “There’s currently a significant gap in valuation between Man City and Chelsea for the Pedro Neto deal. Chelsea do not plan to reduce their requests for the Portuguese winger.”

De Zerbi has made it clear that he wants the club’s top targets, and is not willing to settle for backup options.
According to reports, Tottenham remain confident that Savinho will be added to their squad before the window slams shut, despite the fact that the negotiations are dragging on for longer than expected.
The big question is whether the club would be able to push through the deal in time for the winger to be part of their opening game of the season at Brentford in a little over a week.
