Roberto De Zerbi has made an exciting announcement about what Tottenham Hotspur are plotting over the remaining weeks of the transfer window.

The new campaign is now less than a month away, with the Lilywhites ramping up their preparations as they get set to take on Auckland FC in their second pre-season friendly of the summer.

Reports indicate that Spurs are looking to make multiple additions to their forward line before the new campaign gets underway, with a left-winger and a striker thought to be a priority for the club.

Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe has said that the Lilywhites want to go big again to improve the squad after moving some players out, and the latest statement by De Zerbi comes as confirmation of the same.

Roberto De Zerbi says Tottenham need at least a couple of more signings

In his interview with the club’s channel last week, De Zerbi insisted Spurs are ‘not finished yet’ in the transfer window.

The Tottenham boss has now reiterated that in his press conference on Saturday morning in Auckland, making it clear that the North Londoners will add at least a couple of more players to their squad.

When asked about the fact that Spurs have been very decisive in the transfer market so far and the importance of bringing these players in early, the Italian said (via Football.London): “First of all, I think it’s not finished yet our transfer market window. We have to finish; we have to bring another couple, maybe more, maybe not less, but a couple of players.

“I’m very happy; I’m excited to work with the new players, with the old players. I think we are working very well with Johan and Vinai. We are working with a clear idea. We brought players with great experience like Robbo.

“I think we need this type of players, because we need to increase experience; we have to improve in mentality. We have to be stronger because in the last two seasons we didn’t do what Tottenham has to do. At the end of the transfer market, we will make the point to close the transfer market session. But at the moment I’m very excited.”

De Zerbi says Spurs will strive to sign their top attacking targets

Spurs have been linked with a whole host of wingers and forwards over the last few weeks, and De Zerbi has now confirmed that improving the forward line is the goal over the remaining weeks.

The Italian has also insisted that the club want to sign their top targets for each position rather than settling for backup options.

When asked if improving Spurs’ attacking options is now the priority, De Zerbi responded: “Yes, yes, the target now is to complete the attacking positions. We want the first target, the first level, because we have already important players. But I think to start a new project we need another couple of important players for sure.”
