Yves Bissouma close to Ajax transfer after Tottenham exit
Bissouma’s four-year spell at Spurs came to an end in June, with Spurs opting not to activate the one-year extension option in the midfielder’s contract.
The Mali international did not managed to find a new club for the following 97 days and remains a free agent, but that is about to change.
De Telegraaf were the first to report that Ajax are attempting to add the former Tottenham man to their squad as they search the free agent market for a midfielder.
The report revealed that the Erdivisie giants are not the only ones showing interest in Bissouma, with several other clubs from Europe’s top five leagues also keen on securing the 30-year-old.
Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Ajax have agreed a deal in principle for Bissouma, giving the transfer his ‘here we go’ seal of approval.
Bissouma was offered to Spurs’ London rivals
It was reported by The Sun earlier this month that Bissouma was offered to Chelsea by intermediaries after the West London club missed out on a replacement for Enzo Fernandez late in the window.
The Blues had agreed a deal to sign Monaco’s Lamine Camara in the dying stages of the window, but the Ligue 1 club eventually pulled out of the deal.
That update revealed that Monaco had also explored a move for the former Brighton and Tottenham man.
