Europa League winner Yves Bissouma has officially left Tottenham Hotspur after the club confirmed the midfielder’s departure following the expiry of his contract.

Roberto De Zerbi revealed at the end of last season that only 10 to 12 players were part of his long-term plans at Tottenham, a statement that always suggested a significant squad overhaul was on the way.

Unfortunately for Yves Bissouma, it appears he was not among that group.

The Mali international arrived from Brighton in the summer of 2022 and went on to make 111 appearances in all competitions for Spurs. Although his time in North London was mixed, he remained a popular figure among sections of the fanbase and played an important role during some memorable moments.

Bissouma scored two goals during his four-year stay at the club, both arriving in the 2024/25 campaign, and leaves having lifted the Europa League trophy in a Tottenham shirt.

Tottenham confirm Yves Bissouma exit

Bissouma’s future had looked uncertain for some time, with his contract entering its final months and little indication that an extension was on the table.

While there is no doubt the midfielder possessed quality, inconsistency, costly errors, and a number of off-field controversies prevented him from fully establishing himself as a key figure at the club. For those reasons, last season, he managed just 11 appearances across all competitions.

That said, supporters will always remember the role he played during Tottenham’s Europa League-winning campaign, stepping up at a time when the squad was desperately short of midfield options.

Shortly after announcing Ben Davies’ new contract, Tottenham confirmed Bissouma’s departure in an official statement.

The club said: “We can confirm the departure of Yves Bissouma following the conclusion of his contract.”

His exit marks the first senior departure of the summer transfer window as De Zerbi begins reshaping his squad ahead of next season.

Six U21 players also depart Tottenham

The club also confirmed that Pele Arganese-McDermott, Tyrell Ashcroft, Leo Black, Dante Cassanova, Matthew Craig and Calum Logan will all leave following the expiry of their contracts.

Several of those players progressed through Tottenham’s academy system and featured regularly for the Under-21 side, while Craig went on to make a senior appearance for Spurs against Leeds on te final day of the 22/23 season.

Dante Cassanova was also involved around the first-team environment on multiple occasions, earning many places on the senior matchday bench, including Spurs’ 24/25 Europa League campaign.
