Cristian Romero’s exit from Tottenham Hotspur could accelerate over the coming days, as the Lilywhites look to cash in on the experienced defender.
Romero is generating plenty of interest after an outstanding World Cup campaign, which ended in heartbreak for the Spurs man, as Argentina fell to a 1-0 loss to Spain in the final.
One club has clearly emerged as the front-runner for the player, with reports widely indicating that Inter Milan are expected to speak to the 28-year-old Tottenham star’s representatives regarding a move to San Siro.
In fact, it was revealed by journalist Orazio Accomando on Thursday that Inter have cooled their interest in Djed Spence and are prioritising a deal for Romero.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed on his Italian YouTube channel that Inter have cooled their interest in Spence and are now fully focused on winning the race for the Tottenham captain instead.
Spurs’ asking price of €50m (£42.7m) was deemed too high by the Nerazzurri, who will look elsewhere for a new right-back this summer.
He adds that a meeting between Inter and Romero’s entourage is imminent, stating: “There will be a meeting this week, 100%, between Cuti Romero’s entourage and Inter.”
Tottenham are said to want around £42.5m to sell Romero this summer.

Some pundits have suggested that Roberto De Zerbi should look to bring the 28-year-old back onside and make him a key part of his project, but that now appears extremely unlikely.
It was reported by i News earlier this week that Romero’s lack of punctuality has been a ‘persistent issue’ at Tottenham even after being made the captain last year.
As a result, the Lilywhites have allegedly decided to take the chance that he pieces everything together elsewhere rather than deal with his ‘shenanigans’ for one more year.
