Spurs beat Hoffenheim 3-0 in front of a home crowd at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in what was their penultimate game of pre-season this summer.

Archie Gray or Pedro Porro will likely be captain vs Brentford
This weekend brings an end to Tottenham Hotspur‘s pre-season preparations, after which attention switches quickly to Premier League action.
No doubt based on Spurs’ performance this afternoon, head coach Roberto De Zerbi will be pleased with the performance of his players, who were strong at the back and immense in attack.
It was a very strong XI named by the Tottenham boss against Hoffenheim, and one would expect a not too dissimilar lineup next weekend when the Premier League comes around.
This afternoon, it was Archie Gray who was once again named captain of the side, despite several more senior players being on the field.
The youngster has had the armband on for most of pre-season, and he will likely continue to wear it come next weekend.
James Maddison has been tipped to be named the next Spurs captain following Romero’s departure, but the Englishman has not featured at all in pre-season.
It is very unlikely he will be thrown right in against Brentford next weekend. However, there is the possibility of Porro being named captain as well, with the Spaniard having only just returned to training earlier in the week.
Tottenham cannot afford to loan out Mikey Moore until two new wingers are signed
There is no denying that the star of the show against Hoffenheim was Mikey Moore, who looked sensational from start to finish.
The youngster showed great energy and directness in his game when taking on his man from out wide. Not only was he a constant thorn in the Hoffenheim backline, but he also proved to be a goal-scoring threat.
Moore grabbed a brace, two well-taken goals, with the first coming after he reacted quickest to Tel’s cross while the second came from another link-up between the two.
The teenager, however, is expected to head out on loan to FC Köln, where he will surely face off against Hoffenheim again.
But with Spurs still lacking depth out wide, with no new signings having come through the door, there is no need to rush the loan move.
Reports have it that everything has been agreed between Tottenham and Köln, but it is De Zerbi who is yet to give a green light to the move. That makes sense, and a move should definitely not happen unless there is sufficient depth on the right.
Mathys Tel has been Tottenham’s best player in pre-season
Moore was superb, but so too was Mathys Tel. The Frenchman has certainly been the player of pre-season for Tottenham this summer.
Today he once again showed his quality in the final third. Tel did not grab a goal, but he assisted two of Moore’s strikes.
His two assists came from clear individual brilliance, with Tel beating his man on both occasions before picking the right pass.
For most of last season, the frustration with the winger was his lack of end product. His dribbling has always been top, but making the right decisions in the final third always seemed difficult.
So far in pre-season, that looks to have improved, and any wide player brought in will certainly have to earn a starting spot.
Andy Robertson is already showcasing what his pinpoint delivery can bring
Of course, having creative players across the pitch is a big bonus as the creative workload gets to be shared across the team.
The addition of Robertson looks to have offered Tottenham another source of creativity. There was some scepticism from fans when the deal for the Scotland international went through, given his age.
But his displays in pre-season show exactly why Tottenham were keen on bringing him on board. Robertson remains a creative threat, and he has shown that in pre-season.
Only a few players in the world can deliver pinpoint accurate first-time crosses into the box better than the 32-year-old.
He managed those crosses twice against Hoffenheim, and had Richarlison reacted a bit quicker earlier in the first half, the full-back could have had two assists.
His only assist, though, was as good as it gets, with Robertson putting in a pinpoint first-time cross that allowed Richarlison to manage a first-time finish.
Sandro Tonali looks like a £100m player
Still on the theme of new signings, Robertson was not the only one to have impressed against Hoffenheim.
Sandro Tonali was equally as impressive, although he did not manage any goal contribution. But he did have what many call a pre-assist.
The midfielder showed his cleverness when receiving the ball in midfield, with his first touch allowing him to take the Hoffenheim player out of the equation, which opened up a lot of space for him to run into.
A lot of criticism from last season was how negative Palhinha and Bentancur were when in possession, but with Tonali, despite being used in the holding role, the Italian is often looking to drive forward.
So far, his performances in pre-season, which also include a goal against Chelsea, show that the midfielder is certainly worth the £100m fee.
