Tottenham Hotspur have shattered their transfer record for the second time in a matter of days, striking a deal with Newcastle United for Sandro Tonali.
Spurs fans were extremely excited when the club agreed an £85m deal with West Ham for Mateus Fernandes on Tuesday evening, with many delighted that the club were finally showing major ambition.
It has been repeatedly reported over the last 24 hours that Tottenham are also edging closer to striking a deal with Newcastle for Tonali, after agreeing personal terms with the Italian.
It may have been hard for some to believe that Spurs could sign both players in the same window, but that has now become a reality.

Fabrizio Romano gives ‘here we go’ approval for Sandro Tonali to Tottenham
Just hours after shattering their transfer record for Fernandes, the Lilywhites have done so again to land Tonali from Newcastle in what is a huge statement to the rest of the Premier League.
Fabrizio Romano has now given his ‘here we go’ seal of approval to the transfer, revealing that Spurs have struck a full agreement with the Magpies for the transfer of the 26-year-old.
Romano wrote on X: “Tottenham agree record deal to sign Sandro Tonali from Newcastle, HERE WE GO!
“Agreement between clubs closed and also on player side with the Italian midfielder.
“Fee higher than £85m paid for Mateus Fernandes.”
The Spurs hierarchy have put their money where their mouth is
After escaping relegation by the skin of their teeth last season, several senior Tottenham officials promised fans that the club would show ambition in the transfer market this summer.
Spurs fans had good reason to be sceptical of those comments, given the promises that the club have failed to deliver on under this ownership.
However, the Lewis family and the club’s new leadership have now proven that they are determined to give De Zerbi the tools he needs to get the Lilywhites back up the table where they belong.
