Tottenham have managed a breakthrough in their pursuit of Mykhailo Mudryk as Roberto De Zerbi secures his ninth summer signing.
Tottenham Hotspur have been eyeing another wing addition this transfer window despite having completed deals for Omar Marmoush and Savio last week.
For most of the summer, Cody Gakpo was tipped as Roberto De Zerbi’s first target, but a move for the Dutchman broke down with Gakpo now set to remain in Merseyside.
Iliman Ndiaye then became an alternative for the Dutchman, with reports even claiming that Tottenham and Everton had reached an agreement for the 26‑year‑old, only for Manchester City to come in and hijack a move for the Senegal international.
Tottenham complete Mykhailo Mudryk loan ahead of deadline day
Spurs have since turned their attention to Mykhailo Mudryk as they remain keen on bolstering their attack this summer.
Tottenham are understood to have been pushing for a loan for the wide forward, who only just returned from his anti‑doping violations. Mudryk himself is reported to have greenlit a move to Spurs following interest from the Lilywhites.
Tottenham have now managed a breakthrough in their pursuit of the Ukrainian ahead of deadline day, with Fabrizio Romano giving the deal his ‘here we go’ seal of approval.
The Italian journalist has confirmed that Spurs and Chelsea have reached an agreement for a season‑long loan for Mudryk, who is set to reunite with De Zerbi. The deal will be a paid loan with an option to buy.
Taking to X he wrote: ‘Mykhaylo Mudryk to Tottenham, here we go! Everything agreed also on personal terms. Mudryk joins THFC on paid loan and also understand there will be a 𝐛𝐮𝐲 𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 not mandatory in the agreement. The Ukrainian will re-join De Zerbi.’
Mudryk faces Spurs fitness wait
With the wide forward having not kicked a ball in the last two years, it is very unlikely Mudryk will be thrown straight into the mix at Spurs. The Ukraine winger will surely have to build his match fitness before he is involved in a competitive game for Tottenham this season.
This is not ideal for Tottenham, given their current situation up front. Mohammed Kudus has only just returned from injury. Dejan Kulusevski is only just back in full training. Savio missed the defeat to Newcastle with a knock. Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons are out with ACL injuries.
It very much feels like a last-minute third-choice option after Tottenham’s moves for Cody Gakpo and Iliman Ndiaye fell through, but that is the reality of the situation.
