Tottenham eye a late double deal with Chelsea to fill two more holes in Roberto De Zerbi’s squad for the 2026/27 Premier League season.
Tottenham Hotspur have made a conscious effort to sign players from Premier League clubs this summer as they look to give Roberto De Zerbi the tools he needs ahead of the 26-27 season.
All eight players signed already by Spurs have a wealth of Premier League experience, having played in the league in the last two seasons.
That theme looks set to continue right into the final hours of the summer transfer window as the Lilywhites go in search of a centre-back and left-winger signing.
Tottenham target double Chelsea swoop as deadline nears
Spurs are set to lose Kevin Danso this summer, with Sunderland pushing to sign the centre-back before the transfer deadline passes.
This comes after Roberto De Zerbi confirmed that Danso has asked to leave Tottenham this summer. That has now left Spurs scrambling for a replacement, with Tosin Adarabioyo identified as one who could come in should Danso be transferred out.
However, that is far from the only Chelsea swoop Tottenham look to be exploring this summer. According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs are now understood to be in for Mykhailo Mudryk as they look to complete a double deal with London rivals Chelsea.
It is understood that Tottenham are negotiating loan deals for the pair, with interest in Mudryk emerging following complications in Spurs’ attempt to sign Ndiaye. Manchester City are believed to have now overtaken Tottenham in the race for the Everton man.
Romano wrote on X: “Tottenham are working on double deal with Chelsea: Mykahylo Mudryk and Tosin Adarabioyo on loan to #THFC. Follows complications on Ndiaye deal as Spurs asked for Mudryk, one of Roberto De Zerbi’s favorite player. Negotiations ongoing.”
Mudryk interest grows as Spurs weigh up alternatives
This report has also been backed by David Ornstein, who confirms that Spurs are indeed interested in taking Mudryk on loan this summer.
The Athletic journalist also states that Mudryk is open to a move, leaving a potential reunion with Roberto De Zerbi firmly on the cards this summer.
He wrote: ‘Tottenham Hotspur make enquiry to Chelsea over deal to sign Mykhailo Mudryk. THFC interest based on loan for 25yo CFC winger; available to move after return from suspension. Ukraine intl played under Roberto De Zerbi at Shakhtar Donetsk.’
Mudryk has not played a competitive match for Chelsea since 2024 following his anti-doping violation. He has since returned to first-team training with the ban having been lifted, but has not been involved in a match for the Blues since his return.
