Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with ambitious additions this summer, and one reported target – Sandro Tonali would arrive on a sizeable salary. We have now taken a closer look at his total earnings at Newcastle to see exactly where he would sit in Spurs’ current wage structure.

Tottenham Hotspur are moving like a club with real purpose this summer transfer window as they look to bolster their squad following a disappointing relegation dogfight last season, which saw them finish 17th after beating Everton 1-0 on the final day.

Deals have been completed for three players thus far, with Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi joining on free transfers.

At the same time, Spurs Web reported yesterday that Spurs have reached an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion over a deal for Jan Paul van Hecke.

Tottenham, however, does not look to be stopping there, with reports stating that Spurs have also entered the race to sign Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali.

Tottenham transfer target Sandro Tonali’s wages revealed

Spurs have to fend off interest from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City, with both sides remaining in the running as well.

Tonali would certainly cost big money, with reports claiming that a fee in excess of £100m will be required to prise him away from Newcastle United.

Spurs Web have now taken a look at his current wages at Newcastle United to see where the Italian would fit into the club’s current wage structure.

Based on data from Capology, Tonali is currently on £150,000 per week with the Magpies, making him one of the club’s highest earners.

Only Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes earns more, on £160,000 per week. That sees Tonali take home a gross annual salary of £7.8m and, after bonuses of £2.08m, a total of £9.88m.

Spurs wages comparison for Sandro Tonali

If Tonali were to join Tottenham and retain his current wages, he would fit right in, remaining comfortably below the club’s reported £200,000 wage cap.

A weekly wage of £150,000 would place Tonali as Spurs’ fifth-highest earner and leave him on the same wages as Kolo Muani and Mohammed Kudus.

However, it is very unlikely he will join and retain his current salary. Tottenham could well increase his earnings and include bonuses that take his total pay to £200,000 per week or above.
