Tottenham Hotspur are set to back Roberto De Zerbi with major funds this summer as the Italian goes about reshaping the squad ahead of his first full season in charge.
After Spurs came dangerously close to being relegated from the Premier League for the first time in their history, their head coach handed a firm warning to the club’s hierarchy.
De Zerbi made it clear that Tottenham’s squad needs a major rebuild to ensure they never find themselves in a similar position again.
The Spurs hierarchy seem to have taken the Italian’s advice on board as they have come flying out of the blocks in the transfer window.

Tottenham set to hand Roberto De Zerbi a major transfer war chest
Spurs have already secured Marcos Sensi and Andy Robertson on free transfers, and the Lilywhites have also completed a £52m deal for Jan Paul van Hecke.
Reports indicate that Tottenham are set to continue their spending spree this summer, and this information has now been backed up by Sky Sports’ Michael Bridge.
Bridge claimed that De Zerbi’s men will look to spend a whopping £250m before the new campaign gets underway.
The journalist said on The Last Word on Spurs podcast: “He (Roberto De Zerbi) realises he is at a major club, and I think he has earned the right (To have the keys to a rebuild). Spurs will look to spend 250m plus this summer.”
Plenty of high-profile departures expected from Spurs
The Lewis family are expected to inject more capital into Tottenham to aid the club’s summer spend, but the Lilywhites are also looking to fund their spending spree using player sales.
Rumours surrounding Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali, and Savinho account for a potential £225m of spending alone.
Tottenham are expected to cash in on the likes of Cristian Romero, Guglielmo Vicario, Pape Sarr and a few other senior players.
Over the last 24 hours, it has also emerged that Spurs are ready to sell Lucas Bergvall for £45m after the Sweden international put in a transfer request.
