Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a shock move for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, with the England international available for £40 million.
Tottenham Hotspur know they must strengthen their squad if they are to avoid another disappointing Premier League campaign.
Defensively, they were poor last season, conceding the 17th most goals in the division, while their attack also failed to deliver.
Spurs managed just 48 goals, the 12th highest in the league, marking their lowest return in a decade.
| Season | Goals Scored |
|---|---|
| 2025/26 | 48 |
| 2024/25 | 64 |
| 2023/24 | 74 |
| 2022/23 | 70 |
| 2021/22 | 69 |
| 2020/21 | 68 |
| 2019/20 | 61 |
| 2018/19 | 67 |
| 2017/18 | 74 |
| 2016/17 | 86 |
With their goal tally declining over the past three seasons, bolstering the attack has become just as important as fixing defensive issues.
Spurs have already addressed the back line with the signings of Marcos Senesi, Jan Paul van Hecke and Andy Robertson.

Tottenham eye Marcus Rashford after Barcelona loan spell
According to iPaper, Tottenham now have Marcus Rashford on their wishlist following his impressive loan spell at Barcelona.
The forward managed eight goals and nine assists in 32 La Liga appearances, with 14 goals and 14 assists across all competitions, more than any Spurs player last season.
Richarlison was Tottenham’s most productive attacker in the league, registering 11 goals and four assists.
Barcelona have opted against signing Rashford permanently and have since brought in Anthony Gordon.
Rashford has returned to Manchester United, where his release clause is set at £40 million, although Spurs are reportedly reluctant to meet that figure.
Bayern Munich are also showing interest in the United man, while Barcelona remain in the mix.
Roberto De Zerbi keen on Marcus Rashford
Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi is said to be a big admirer of Rashford. Since the Italian took charge, Spurs have shifted strategy, targeting experienced Premier League players rather than unproven youngsters, and Rashford fits that profile.
If the 28-year-old is to secure a move, he will be expected to take a substantial wage cut.
Spurs Web recently reported that Rashford earns £325,000 per week, well above Tottenham’s wage budget, although Spurs have shown a willingness to stretch their wage structure in pursuit of Sandro Tonali.
Should Rashford agree to a significant reduction, he could represent strong value for money and provide Spurs with the attacking boost they desperately need.
