The Carabao Cup has already brought about much better luck for the Lilywhites, who scored five goals and managed their only competitive win of the season last time out against Charlton Athletic in round two.

Spurs team news vs Liverpool
Tottenham do have a couple of their players out for this game against Liverpool on Tuesday night. At the moment, Mykhailo Mudryk remains sidelined, with a return date pencilled in for after the international break.
Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert are also out, while Dejan Kulusevski is set to miss out as he continues his rehabilitation.
Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie were the latest to suffer injury setbacks and missed out last time against Everton. It remains to be seen whether they will return this midweek.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have injury problems of their own, with Conor Bradley, Federico Chiesa, Hugo Ekitike, Giovanni Leoni and Joe Gomez all set to miss out.
Spurs face a difficult test at Anfield
It certainly is a tough one to call, but Tottenham are not favourites heading into Tuesday’s encounter.
The Lilywhites’ record at Anfield is pretty appalling, as they have not won on that ground since 2011, 15 years ago.
However, in the Carabao Cup, Spurs have shown they can beat the Reds in the past, winning five of the last ten meetings. An upset is still very possible, especially as Liverpool are in a transitional phase themselves.
