Roberto De Zerbi and Tottenham face a big decision on the future of Will Lankshear, who is the subject of plenty of transfer interest.

Lankshear has been training hard in Spain during the off-season alongside UEFA-licensed striker coach Scott Chickelday, as the centre-forward looks to catch De Zerbi’s eye in training.

The 21-year-old is riding high on confidence after excelling on loan at Oxford United last term, scoring 14 goals and registering four assists across all competitions, which is an impressive return for a side that ended up being relegated.

The striker has been teasing Spurs fans with videos of his supreme finishing over recent weeks, but the Lilywhites have to consider his next step carefully.

Tottenham starlet Will Lankshear is of interest to Premier League clubs

The Athletic’s Jay Harris has now revealed on The Last Word on Spurs that the centre-forward is a wanted man on the back of his excellent spell at the Kassam Stadium.

Harris revealed that clubs who finished at the top end of the Championship last season are keen on adding Lankshear to their squad.

Additionally, he claimed that the Spurs academy graduate is also on the radars of lower-half Premier League clubs ahead of the new season.

It thus appears that many English clubs and their talent spotters are convinced that the forward is an exceptional talent, capable of making it at the highest level.

Should Spurs loan out Lankshear or keep him as third-choice striker?

Last month, Alasdair Gold stated that De Zerbi may prefer a younger forward like Lankshear to serve as his third-choice striker next season.

However, the Football.London journalist also suggested that a top-flight loan cannot be ruled out for the 21-year-old on the back of his excellent showing at Oxford last season.

With Tottenham having no European football next season, the chances of Lankshear getting any game time seem slim, but the youngster will undoubtedly benefit from training with the Spurs first-team under De Zerbi and his staff.
