Tottenham Hotspur legend Ledley King has shared his thoughts on whether Luka Vuskovic could feature in a Spurs shirt next season as speculation over the young defender’s future continues to grow.
Luka Vuskovic‘s future has become one of the biggest talking points of Tottenham’s summer transfer window after the teenager’s outstanding loan spell in the Bundesliga attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Contracted to the club until 2030, Vuskovic is concerned about the amount of game time he would receive next season behind Jan Paul van Hecke and Kevin Danso, and is therefore pushing for a move away from North London.
Reports suggest the 19-year-old has already agreed personal terms with Brighton & Hove Albion, from whom Tottenham have already rejected three offers so far, including bids worth £30m and £45m, although another improved proposal is expected soon.
Now, former Spurs captain Ledley King has given his verdict on the highly-rated defender’s situation.

Ledley King gives verdict on Luka Vuskovic’s Tottenham future
King was full of praise for Vuskovic, who is yet to make a competitive appearance for Spurs, while speaking to Hayters TV during the club’s official 2026/27 kit launch.
Although the former defender admitted he has not watched a huge amount of Vuskovic himself, he revealed that the feedback coming out of Germany has certainly caught his attention.
“I didn’t get a chance to see too many of the games, but I saw the reports and people were raving about him,” King said. “He’s an exciting young player.
“He looks very confident. It sounds silly for me to say that, but what I look for in a player, he looks to have that little bit of, I don’t want to call it arrogance, but that confidence in himself, and that tells me that he’s a top player.”
King was also asked whether Vuskovic could play a significant role under Roberto De Zerbi next season amid the ongoing speculation surrounding his future.
“I’m not sure what the situation is at the moment,” he replied. “But obviously every player has an opportunity in pre-season to impress, and you’ll see from there on who gets picked.”
Ledley King highlights value of Tottenham’s Premier League experience
One noticeable theme of Tottenham’s recruitment this summer has been a focus on players already proven in the Premier League.
Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke have all arrived with extensive experience in English football, while several of Spurs’ other reported targets, including Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Savinho and Cody Gakpo, are also playing in the Premier League.
King believes that familiarity with the division can be a major advantage.
“I think the great thing is that they’re all Premier League proven,” he explained. “They understand each and every game, each and every stadium that they’ll be going into, I think that makes a difference, and they’re players of great quality.
“Andy Robertson’s had a tremendous career at Liverpool, winning everything, his experience will be invaluable, and then the two centre-halves are very good ball-players.
“I think that’s what all the top teams are looking for, players that can start attacks from the back and make a difference there, and both of them have that.”
