Marcos Senesi has sent a clear statement about his ambition in his first interview as a Tottenham Hotspur player.
It had been an open secret for a while that Senesi was on his way to Spurs, and Tottenham officially confirmed the Argentine as their second signing of the summer earlier today.
The centre-back arrives at Spurs on a free transfer after spending four years at Bournemouth, and brings a lot of experience to the Lilywhites’ backline.
Senesi’s defensive numbers for Bournemouth were outstanding last season, while the 29-year-old is also very comfortable playing out from the back, which is something De Zerbi expects of his centre-backs.

Marcos Senesi wants to win trophies at Tottenham
Some on social media have been puzzled by the fact that the Argentina international has left Bournemouth, who have qualified for the Europa League, to join a team which finished 17th twice in a row.
However, Senesi admitted that he is over the moon to be joining a club of Tottenham’s size and has set his sights on winning silverware in North London.
The centre-back told the club’s official website: “It’s a very special feeling to be a Tottenham Hotspur player. From the first moment, the Club has shown why they want me and how much they want me to be a part of what they are building. It’s exciting and something I can’t wait to be involved in.
“Every time I step on the pitch, I will do my best to make the fans proud and to take the Club back to the place it belongs. I want to win things with Tottenham and will do everything I can to make that happen.”
Senesi also sent a video message to the Spurs fans:
Senesi’s arrival gives Roberto De Zerbi plenty of options
Signing another top-class left-footed centre-back eases the burden on Micky van de Ven, who has picked up some serious injuries during his time at Tottenham.
Senesi’s arrival allows De Zerbi to rotate his options in the heart of defence without a steep drop in quality.

With Tottenham also confident of securing a deal for Jan Paul Van Hecke, the Spurs boss will also have the option to play three at the back if he feels the need to do so against some opposition.
