Antonin Kinsky has spoken publicly for the first time about his future at Tottenham, after ending last season as one of Roberto De Zerbi’s most important players.

Few players have enjoyed the kind of turnaround Antonin Kinsky has over the last few months.

The Czech goalkeeper went from being substituted just 15 minutes into a nightmare Champions League debut and being linked with a move away from the club to becoming one of Tottenham’s standout performers during their successful fight against relegation.

Following Guglielmo Vicario’s hernia surgery in March, De Zerbi had little choice but to hand Kinsky an extended run in the side. The 22-year-old responded with a string of impressive performances and is now expected to begin next season as Tottenham’s first-choice goalkeeper.

When Fabrizio Romano first revealed that Tottenham had signed Martin Dubravka on a free transfer as a backup goalkeeper, he also reported that Vicario is expected to leave the club, leaving Kinsky in line to become Spurs’ new first-choice goalkeeper. Now, the Czech stopper has provided an update on his own future.

Antonin Kinsky confirms Tottenham contract talks are ongoing

We previously reported that promoting Kinsky to the No.1 role could save Tottenham as much as £50m, removing the need to pursue an expensive first-choice goalkeeper after links to players such as Bart Verbruggen and James Trafford.

Spurs are also understood to be working on a new contract for Kinsky, who joined from Slavia Prague for a reported £12.5m in December 2025.

Although the club are yet to officially announce anything, the goalkeeper has now confirmed that discussions are underway.

Speaking to Czech outlet Olympijsky Tym, Kinsky was asked about the arrival of Martin Dubravka and the competition for places next season.

“It’s a challenge; I’ll be fighting for a spot during pre-season. Negotiations are underway with the club about what the future might hold. I’m interested in staying and fighting for my place because the English league is great.

“Whether I’ll be the starter or the backup is something the coach will decide. In my mind, I’ve always been the No.1, even when I was on the bench. I’ll take the same approach now, and I believe it’ll work out.”

Antonin Kinsky provides update after surgery

Kinsky was forced to miss the Czech Republic’s World Cup campaign after undergoing a minor surgical procedure at the end of last season to address an underlying medical issue.

The goalkeeper, however, revealed that his recovery is progressing well and that he has already begun preparations for the new campaign.

“My girlfriend and I spent four days on vacation in Corfu, Greece. Nice weather, beautiful sea, great food. I really enjoyed it because it was my first vacation in seven years,” Kinsky explained.

“But now it’s back to focusing on football. I’m working with my fitness coach to get ready for the next season so I’ll be as prepared as possible, so I can reach my goals.”
