Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio has now confirmed the Serie A champions’ interest in Tottenham captain Cristian Romero.
The Cristian Romero saga is beginning to gather pace with the new season not too far away from kicking off.
The Argentine, following his World Cup run to the final, has been handed an extended leave, and it does look as though he has been using that time off to search for a new club.
Reports this week revealed that Romero’s agent touched down in Italy, with Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio also doing similar.
The Serie A champions are one of the sides keen on securing the services of the Spurs captain, although Barcelona have also been credited with an interest.

Following reports of a potential meeting between Romero’s camp and Inter Milan’s sporting director, Fabrizio Romano has now relayed comments from Ausilio confirming the meeting between the two parties.
The Inter Milan director also confirmed that the Italian giants are interested in securing the services of Romero this summer.
Speaking about the transfer saga and the meeting he had with the centre-back’s entourage, he said: “We are interested for sure, it is true. We spoke to the agent and Tottenham. We will see what happens.”
Inter weigh up £34m offer as Spurs talks enter ‘hot hours’
Romero himself is understood to be keen on a move to Inter Milan, as revealed today by Spurs Web. The saga is described as entering “hot hours” following the meeting between the two camps.
Inter are understood to have hinted at the prospect of reaching a figure close to £34 million (€40m) between fixed fee and bonuses.
It now remains to be seen if Tottenham will accept those terms as the summer transfer window continues to progress.
