Inter Milan have prepared their first transfer offer for Tottenham’s Cristian Romero this summer as the saga begins to gather pace.

Cristian Romero is one of five players Tottenham Hotspur are looking to offload this summer transfer window.

It is explained that Romero’s disciplinary record, as well as his availability, are some of the reasons why Spurs are open to a sale.

Several clubs within Europe have shown an interest in signing the Argentine, including Serie A champions Inter Milan.

Inter prepare loan‑plus‑obligation offer for Tottenham’s Cristian Romero

Romero is not against a move to Milan this summer transfer window, with the Argentine believed to be pushing strongly for the switch.

Some reports have even claimed that Inter are readying a €40 million (£34m) deal for the 28-year-old centre-back as Tottenham look to offload him.

However, a fresh report from Nicolo Schira has revealed something entirely different as the transfer saga begins to heat up.

The journalist explains that Inter are indeed preparing an offer for Romero, but it is claimed that it is an ‘expensive’ season-long loan with an obligation to buy the centre-back.

Schira likely means that Inter would offer, for example, a £34m total package, but a good chunk of that would come up front as a loan, with the rest coming as an obligation next summer. Let’s say, a £10m loan for the 2026/27 season and a £24m obligation for the summer of 2027.

A contract expected to run until 2031 is also being put on the table, with direct talks with Spurs expected to take place next week.

His tweeted: “Inter are planning to offer to Tottenham an expensive loan with the obligation to buy to try to sign El Cuti Romero from Tottenham. For the centre-back ready a contract until 2031. Expected direct talks next week. transfers THFC.”

Spurs have explored loan with obilgation to buy deal structure once this summer

Tottenham have not been scared to offload players this summer, having completed more than five sales already.

Each of those deals has been structured in a way that benefits Spurs, with the Lilywhites having already received well over £100 million from outgoings.

A season-long loan with an obligation to buy is one such deal structure Tottenham have already explored in the sale of Radu Dragusin.

Fiorentina purchased the Romanian on a loan deal this summer and are expected to complete a £21.4 million transfer next year.

With the Romero deal described as expensive, one could expect a substantial fee to be paid after the loan period.
