James Maddison returns to Tottenham XI as line-up vs Hoffenheim is revealed

The Tottenham Hotspur starting line-up for their final pre-season friendly match this summer against Hoffenheim has been announced.

Less than 24 hours after beating Hoffenheim 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Spurs are once again set to take to the pitch today.

This time it is a behind-closed-doors encounter against the same opponent at Tottenham’s Hotspur Way training complex.

The clash this afternoon marks the end of what has been a busy pre-season schedule for Spurs this summer.

Tottenham started their pre-season run with a clash against MK Dons, before travelling to Oceania where they played three games against Auckland FC, Sydney and Chelsea.

After their return from Australia, Spurs took on Getafe, their U21 side as well as today’s opponents.

Tottenham rotate heavily for Hoffenheim rematch

Coming into today’s encounter, Roberto De Zerbi has been forced to significantly rotate his squad. It is an entriely different XI to the one that took to the pitch on Saturday.

Pedro Porro, who only just returned to training earlier in the week, has not been named in today’s squad, while Destiny Udogie, Dominic Solanke, and Mo Kudus are also missing.

The Spurs head coach has also named a few youngsters in today’s squad, with Luca Williams-Barnett and Tye Hall featuring.

Brandon Austin; Tye Hall, Kevin Danso, Ben Davies, Souza; Mateus Fernandes, Rodrigo Bentancur, Pape Sarr; James Maddison, Luca Williams-Barnett, Damola Ajayi.

Spurs look to finish pre-season without setbacks

With pre-season preparations set to come to an end today, De Zerbi will be hoping that none of his players picks up needless injuries.

That is because the Premier League is set to return in six days for Spurs, who take on Brentford at the Gtech Stadium in the opening weekend of the competition.

Tottenham were abysmal last campaign in the league, and they will be hoping they have done enough this summer to improve on their performances in the Premier League this season.
