Micky van de Ven has received a huge pay rise at Tottenham Hotspur, putting him among the club’s top earners.
Van de Ven has signed a new five-year deal with Tottenham, becoming the third senior player to sign an extension with the club this summer, following Ben Davies and Pedro Porro.
One can argue that it is one of Spurs’ most important deals of the summer so far, with some of Europe’s biggest clubs reported to be interested in the Dutchman.
The Lilywhites have thus pulled off a massive coup by convincing him to commit his future in N17, and it turns out they have spent massively to do that.
Journalist suggests Micky van de Ven could be the second-highest-paid player at Tottenham
Telegraaf journalist Mike Verweij has claimed that the Tottenham defender has become one of the highest-paid players at the North London side.
He asserted that Van de Ven’s contract is worth €75m (£64m) over 5 years, which comes out to around £245k per week. However, the journalist does not reveal whether that figure includes bonuses or how it exactly breaks down as a weekly wage.
If the reported figures are true, Van de Ven may be the second-highest earner at Spurs after new signing Sandro Tonali, who is thought to be on £250k per week.

Spurs have completely shattered their wage ceiling
With Micky Van de Ven having previously earned £90k per week at Tottenham, a jump all the way up to £245k would represent a 172% increase.
We await confirmation from other sources on the Spurs defender’s weekly wages, but we would have expected to see a figure closer to £195k – putting him alongside the likes of James Maddison. We are also still waiting to hear how much Pedro Porro is earning from his own new deal.
It was reported ahead of the summer window that the Tottenham owners are ready to remove their self-imposed wage ceiling, and they certainly appear to be doing that.
One can argue that this is an even bigger show of ambition than the big transfer fees that the club have spent on the likes of Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.
To keep world-class players happy, the club need to pay top-of-the-line wages, and it appears that the Lilywhites are certainly doing that.
