Savinho missed Man City’s training session on Thursday amid intensifying reports that the winger is edging close to a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

After months of negotiations, there finally seems to be some movement in the Brazilian international’s proposed move to Spurs.

Over the last two days, some sources have reported that Tottenham are confident of sealing a deal for Savinho over the coming days after the 22-year-old spoke with Roberto De Zerbi multiple times.

Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade has even claimed that Spurs are now in a hurry to complete a deal for the Man City star, as they have no intention to continue negotiations into the dying stages of the window.

‘Curious’ Man City claim about Savinho assessed after he expresses desire to join Tottenham

Amid this speculation, the winger was not spotted training with his City teammates on Thursday, as Enzo Maresca’s men step up preparations for the new campaign.

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that the official communication coming from the Manchester club is that the Tottenham target is down with illness.

However, he admitted that the timing of Savinho’s illness is ‘curious’, making it clear that the player wants to complete a move to Spurs.

Romano said on his YouTube channel: “The official version coming out of Manchester City is ‘Savinho is ill, Savinho is not feeling well’. And we respect that, guys. We absolutely respect that. “What I’ll say is sometimes – and it’s not to go against clubs or anyone, it’s just to tell you without filters the situation – it’s very curious players feel ill whilst they want a transfer. Savinho wants to go to Tottenham. Savinho has an agreement with Tottenham on personal terms. Savinho is waiting and hoping Manchester City and Tottenham reach an agreement.”

Man City yet to accept Spurs’ offer for Savinho

However, Romano refrained from suggesting that the 22-year-old’s absence from training is evidence that a move to Tottenham is around the corner.

He explained that as things stand, City are still refusing to accept Spurs’ offer, as the talks between the two clubs continue.

Romano added: “We also have to respect Man City, and Man City as of today are still not giving the green light for a Savinho transfer. At the moment, Manchester City are not accepting Tottenham’s bid. The negotiations continue, talks continue, but Savinho has a clear desire: He wants to be a Tottenham player.”
