The race for Rafael Leao’s signature continues to take shape, with Tottenham in the thick of the battle for the AC Milan star.

Spurs are prioritising signing a new left-winger, and their search for a top-class attacker has now taken them to one of the biggest clubs in Serie A.

According to various reports, Tottenham have explored a move for Rafael Leao, whose stay at the San Siro appears to be nearing its end as he enters the final two years of his contract.

Some sources have claimed that discussions are taking place between Milan and Spurs regarding a potential deal for the Portugal international over the last few days.

Will Man United look to hijack Tottenham’s move for Rafael Leao?

The Sun have now revealed that the Tottenham target has now been offered to one of the Lilywhites’ Premier League rivals.

The report claims that Leao’s representatives have approached United to discuss a potential move to Old Trafford.

However, it is suggested that the chances of the winger ending up in Manchester are slim, as Michael Carrick does not view him as a priority signing, even though the Red Devils do hold an interest in the player.

The report adds that the Rossoneri are expected to demand a fee in the region of €60m to €70m (£51m-£60m) for Leao.

What Leao thinks about the idea of joining Spurs

It was claimed by TEAMtalk a couple of days ago that Tottenham Hotspur have held internal discussions regarding a move for the Milan man, and reached out to the player’s representatives to assess his interest.

The update asserted that Leao had expressed a desire to be part of Roberto De Zerbi’s project at Spurs, even though the Lilywhites have not qualified for Europe next season.

According to a recent update from Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan have made up their minds to cash in on Leao, who has been informed he is not part of new manager Ruben Amorim’s plans for next season.
