There has been a big development at Manchester United regarding the future of Tottenham Hotspur target Marcus Rashford.
Rashford has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham, and it has been widely reported that the Red Devils are keen to offload the forward after Barcelona decided against taking up the option to buy the player.
The forward’s £325,000-a-week wages are perhaps a hindrance for many of his suitors, but that is not the case with Tottenham, who are allegedly willing to match Rashford’s current wages.
However, the Lilywhites’ hopes of completing a deal for the England international appear to be slipping away.
Tottenham target Marcus Rashford offered to Roma in part-exchange deal
Gazzetta Dello Sport has now revealed that Man Utd could use Rashford as part of negotiations to sign one of their midfield targets.
The report claims that the Red Devils are pushing ahead with a move for Roma star Manu Kone after securing Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.
However, the Giallorossi want €60m (£51m) for the Frenchman, which is proving a stumbling block for the Red Devils.
As a result, the outlet states that United have offered Rashford to the Serie A club as part of a deal for Kone, although the website adds that the forward’s ‘colossal salary’ could be a ‘major hurdle’ for any deal.
Man United do not want to sell Rashford to Spurs
Spurs are one of the very few clubs who may be willing and able to meet the England forward’s wage demands, but according to the i Paper, Man United are reluctant to sell Rashford to Spurs or any other Premier League side.
The report claimed that a loan move away from Old Trafford is the only realistic option for the striker this summer, with United expecting suitors to return with loan offers later in the window.
It was previously reported that Rashford himself is not keen on a switch to N17, as he wants to play Champions League football next season.
