Mikey Moore could follow in the footsteps of £73m winger in huge Tottenham boost

The race for Mikey Moore is now heating up, with Tottenham Hotspur and the winger facing a big decision over the coming weeks.

It was initially suggested that Roberto De Zerbi would only make a decision on Moore after analysing him in pre-season, but Tottenham’s stance appears to have changed.

Over the last few days, it has emerged that Spurs have informed the 18-year-old that he would be loaned out again next season.

This was because the Lilywhites are plotting major reinforcements to their attack and feel that the teenager has a limited pathway to regular first-team football next season.

Tottenham told Borussia Dortmund would be ‘ideal’ loan move for Mikey Moore

Borussia Dortmund, FC Cologne and PSV Eindhoven are all showing interest in signing Moore, as the Lilywhites contemplate who to loan him to.

Former Tottenham scout, Mick Brown, believes that a temporary switch to Dortmund would be ideal for the winger’s development, backing the Spurs man to follow in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho.

Brown told Football Insider: “It seems like Tottenham are going to let Mikey Moore go out on loan again. “He had an impressive season at Rangers, where he earned a lot of praise, and is clearly making good progress, but isn’t quite ready to make his mark on the Tottenham team.

“A move to the Bundesliga would be ideal for him. I don’t know of any player who has gone there from the Premier League and hasn’t come back a better player. Look at Jadon Sancho, for example; he went to Dortmund from Man City and went from strength to strength over there.

“Obviously it hasn’t quite worked out for him in England, but the opportunity to develop his game and grow into a top player at Dortmund was there for him. They’re now interested in Moore, and that would be the perfect destination for him, because he can play regularly at a high level and take another step in his development.

“All of the top clubs in Germany play good football, so he would benefit from that without it being quite as fast-paced as the Premier League, and that would be a boost.”

Is a return to Rangers on the cards for Moore?

Former Rangers manager Danny Rohl publicly expressed his intention to re-sign Moore on loan, but there has since been a managerial change at Ibrox.

Derek McInnes has replaced Rohl as the Gers’ head coach, and it is unclear if the 55-year-old is just as keen on bringing the Tottenham man back to the club.

Moore had previously expressed an interest in returning to Rangers for a second season, but the managerial change at the Scottish club could have forced the winger to rethink his next step.
