Newcastle are still hoping to raid Tottenham Hotspur for a midfielder before the window slams shut, having already launched multiple enquiries for the player this summer.

Spurs are set for a busy final two weeks of the transfer window, with reports indicating that three attacking additions may arrive at N17 before the window closes.

The Lilywhites have made room in the squad by moving on both Cristian Romero and Djed Spence over recent days, while Guglielmo Vicario is expected to complete a loan move to Juventus soon.

Another Spurs star, who has impressed in pre-season, continues to be linked with a move away, and a Premier League club are eyeing a late deal.

Newcastle have not given up on Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall

Spurs have already rejected offers from Nottingham Forest and Newcastle for Lucas Bergvall, who is thought to be keen on an exit in search of a more prominent role elsewhere.

The Daily Mail have now claimed that the Swede remains in the sights of Newcastle, with his name near the top of the club’s wishlist as we enter the dying stages of the window.

The Magpies allegedly discussed Bergvall with Spurs during the negotiations over Sandro Tonali and have subsequently made further enquiries regarding the 20-year-old.

The outlet alleges that a fee of over £50m would be required to take the youngster to St James’ Park and that Nottingham Forest are also continuing to keep an eye on the youngster’s situation.

Alasdair Gold reveals Spurs’ asking price for Bergvall

£50m may not be enough to secure a deal for Bergvall, who continues to have doubts about getting regular minutes at Spurs, according to Alasdair Gold.

The journalist claimed last week that it would take an offer of over £60m to price the Swede away from Tottenham at this stage of the transfer window.

The Lilywhites’ valuation may have increased even further in light of the youngster’s impressive performances in recent pre-season matches, with Bergvall arguably Tottenham’s standout player in their 3-0 win over Hoffenheim on Saturday.
