The latest developments at Newcastle United may allow Tottenham to get a £25.6m transfer over the line this week.
Newcastle United have been credited with an interest in Djed Spence, who is expected to leave Tottenham before the start of the new season.
However, Inter Milan have emerged as the clear frontrunners for the Spurs full-back, after identifying him as their top target to replace Denzel Dumfries.
The Nerazzurri are thought to be working to complete a deal worth €30m (£25.6m) plus bonuses for the England international, and they may be aided in their efforts to do so by the Magpies.

Interestingly, TEAMtalk now claim that Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign Inter midfielder Davide Frattesi, whose future at the San Siro is far from certain.
The Magpies are in the market for a central midfielder following Bruno Guimaraes’ departure, and they are now assessing various options after missing out on former Spurs man Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Intermediaries are working on Frattesi’s situation, with Newcastle made aware of the midfielder’s potential availability for a fee of around €30m (£26m).
If the Magpies do end up meeting that asking price, they could give the Serie A club the funds they need to complete a deal for Spence.

TEAMtalk say that Frattesi is open to a move to England, having also attracted interest from Nottingham Forest previously.
Interestingly, it was reported by FC Inter News earlier this summer that Tottenham were contemplating a move for the Italy international, having explored a move for him in the January window as well.
Spurs insiders have said the Lilywhites could sign another midfielder in the final weeks of the window if they sell both Pape Sarr and Lucas Bergvall, both of whom De Zerbi’s side are listening to offers for.
