Nottingham Forest have been warned against signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall as a potential replacement for Elliot Anderson.

Tottenham Hotspur are bracing themselves for a host of offers following Lucas Bergvall’s request to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs Web reported last week that several clubs, both in the Premier League and abroad, have shown interest in Bergvall following his decision.

Among those are Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, clubs in Italy, as well as Arsenal, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest.

While interest has been credited to these sides, it is Forest who could make a move soon, with reports suggesting that the sale of Elliot Anderson could tempt the Tricky Trees to come in for Bergvall.

Any side looking to sign Bergvall this summer will have to pay a significant transfer fee. Spurs Web revealed last week that Tottenham value the Swede at around £45m-£50m after his two-year stay in north London. Bergvall claimed every single Spurs Player of the Season award in the 2024/25 season.

However, former Nottingham Forest defender Stuart Pearce is not convinced the 20-year-old would represent good value for money if Forest decides to pursue a deal.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Pearce explained why he believes Bergvall is not worth the premium Tottenham are expected to demand, despite Forest potentially having funds available following the departure of Anderson.

He said: “I’m not convinced about him, I’ve got to say. If you’re going to pay a top premium because that money has just come in, Forest are building a new stand next year so I don’t know if this money will be generated to put that up or not.

“But for me, I wouldn’t be paying big money for Bergvall.”

Pearce also expanded on why he remains unconvinced by Bergvall and questioned whether the midfielder has shown enough during his time at Tottenham to justify such a sizeable transfer fee.

Speaking to talkSPORT, the former Forest defender suggested Tottenham’s willingness to let Bergvall leave also raises questions over the player’s standing at the club.

He added, “I’m just not convinced about him. He’s been in and out of Tottenham’s team. Tottenham have had a good look at him for a couple of years and decided they want to move him on, that sends a message. I’m not sure.”
